After World Championships exit, Lovlina Borgohain rues lack of training and exposure

India's Olympic bronze medallist in women's boxing, Lovlina Borgohain expressed her frustrations with her lack of proper training and exposure to better opportunities after she crashed out with a defeat in the opening round of the Women's World Boxing Championships. The 27-year-old from Assam, returning to international action after more than a year, suffered a comprehensive defeat 0-5 by Turkey’s Busra Isildar in the 75kg round of 16 on Saturday, September 6.

Taking to social media after her exit, Lovlina admitted the defeat was painful but pointed to a deeper issue. “After one year away, I stepped into my first international competition. I lost in my very first fight it hurts. I never demand luxury, I only ask for good training,” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
