The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movements following compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the highlights, achieving career-high rankings after impressive displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings, propelled by his remarkable twin centuries at Headingley. His scores of 134 and 118 made him only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Andy Flower of Zimbabwe (2001), to achieve this feat. Notably, Pant is the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to surpass 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, closely followed by his fellow Englishman, Harry Brook. India’s Shubman Gill also made notable progress, climbing five places to secure the 20th position after his elegant century in the first innings.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s premier fast bowler, continues to dominate as the world’s No. 1 Test bowler. His recent five-wicket haul at Headingley reinforces his command in red-ball cricket. Ben Stokes of England has also climbed three places to secure the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings after impactful performances with both bat and ball.
In the T20I rankings, the tri-series in Glasgow featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland led to significant shifts. Dutch batter Michael Levitt jumped 16 places to 14th after consistent performances, and Scotland’s Brandon McMullen rose 20 spots to joint 38th.
The ICC rankings serve as a crucial benchmark for individual excellence, highlighting the impact of every run scored and wicket taken in shaping cricket’s dynamic hierarchy.
