Jake Paul Secures Unanimous Decision Victory Over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Jake Paul emerged victorious against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Saturday, June 29, 2025, securing a unanimous decision in a 10-round cruiserweight match. The fight took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and was broadcasted on DAZN PPV. The judges' scorecards read 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92, all in favor of Paul.
This win extends Paul's (12-1, 7 KOs) winning streak to six fights following his split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Notably, this victory comes after Paul defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November, further solidifying his presence in the boxing world.
Chavez (54-7-1, 34 KOs), a former WBC middleweight world champion, was unable to overcome Paul's dominance. He previously held the title after a majority decision victory against Sebastian Zbik in June 2011 and successfully defended it three times. This marked Chavez's third consecutive fight in the cruiserweight division.
The victory could have significant implications for Paul's boxing career. A convincing win over Chavez potentially positions him for a spot in the WBC rankings at 200 pounds, bringing him closer to his ambition of competing for a world title.
"The WBC ratings committee has been following Jake Paul's career," WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told ESPN prior to the fight. "If he defeats Chavez, and depending on how the fight plays out, the committee will make the decision. It's very likely [Paul will be ranked] if he wins convincingly."
