Yashasvi Jaiswal has the opportunity to etch his name in the record books as the fastest Indian to reach 2,000 Test runs. The second Test between England and India, commencing on July 2nd at Edgbaston in Birmingham, could be the stage for this historic feat.

Currently, the record is jointly held by Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, who both achieved the milestone in 40 innings. Dravid reached the mark in 1999 against New Zealand in Hamilton, while Sehwag equaled him in 2004 against Australia in Chennai.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is approaching a significant milestone in his Test career.

Jaiswal made his Test debut in July 2023 against the West Indies in Roseau. He has accumulated 1,903 runs in 38 innings, boasting an impressive average of 52.86.

Jaiswal's Recent Performance

During the first Test at Headingley in Leeds, Jaiswal displayed good form, scoring a composed 101 off 159 deliveries in the first innings. His innings included 16 boundaries and one six, before being dismissed by England captain Ben Stokes. India lost by five wickets.

However, he failed to replicate his performance in the second innings, scoring only four runs from 11 balls before being dismissed by Brydon Carse.

The young opener will also be aiming to improve his fielding, particularly after dropping four crucial catches during the Leeds Test. These errors ultimately proved costly to the team's chances.
