English Fan's Unconventional Ode to Indian Pacer Akash Deep Goes Viral
Following his stellar performance at Edgbaston, where he claimed 10 wickets and played a pivotal role in India's series-leveling 336-run victory, Akash Deep has become a household name in the cricketing world. His figures of 6 for 99 in the second innings contributed to a match total of 10 for 187, earning him widespread acclaim.
Adding to the accolades, a video has surfaced on social media showing an English fan singing a unique tribute to the 28-year-old outside the Edgbaston ground.
The fan can be heard chanting, "Akash Deep, Akash Deep Bowling England Out, Akash Deep!" in a display of sporting appreciation.
Even cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar lauded Akash Deep as the "standout bowler" of the match, describing his delivery that dismissed Joe Root in the second innings as the "ball of the series."
Tendulkar expressed his admiration on X, stating, "India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be 1 winner. What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled. Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root."
Furthermore, Tendulkar humorously acknowledged Mohammad Siraj's diving catch at short mid-wicket, commenting, "Enjoyed the catch taken by Mohammad ‘Jonty’ Siraj."
