Young India opener Abhishek Sharma began his Asia Cup campaign in style. Batting against UAE, the left-hander slammed 3 sixes and 2 fours to hit 30 off just 16 balls. Ahead of India's much-anticipated clash against Pakistan, Abhishek's father has hoped that his son continues to give his best for the country.
Abhishek Sharma secured his place in the T20I team ahead of the Asia Cup campaign. His sensational performances against England earlier this year meant that he became undroppable in the highly competitive environment of the Indian T20I team.
Speaking to India Today ahead of the Pakistan match, Abhishek's father, Rajkumar, said that he wanted his son to guide India to the Asia Cup 2025 win.
"India performed well in the first match of the Asia Cup. I want them to win the trophy. India is in good form, I think that they will win the Asia Cup," Rajkumar Sharma told India Today in an interview.

"India and Pakistan is one of the most anticipated matches in the world. I am glad that the BCCI gave Abhishek chances. I want him to perform his best. I want him to help India win the match against Pakistan and then win the Asia Cup," he added.
Abhishek Sharma has played 18 matches so far for the Indian T20I team. He has scored 565 runs at a ridiculous strike rate of 193.49. Abhishek's biggest attribute is his hitting ability against spin. In the international circuit, as well as in the Indian Premier League, Abhishek has mercilessly hit spinners out of the park.
The Asia Cup 2025 is Abhishek's first big tournament. The batter is hoping to push his case for the T20 World Cup 2026 squad, a tournament that will be held in India in the months of February and March.
