
World number one Jannik Sinner powered into the US Open quarter-finals on Monday with a ruthless demolition of Alexander Bublik, just hours after the Kazakh had described the defending champion as an "artificial intelligence" player.
Sinner, 24, needed just one hour and 21 minutes to dispatch the 23rd seed 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in what was the second-quickest win in the men's singles draw this year. The result extended his remarkable unbeaten streak at hardcourt Grand Slams to 25 matches and underlined why he remains the player to beat in New York.
Bublik, one of only two men to defeat Sinner this season, had labeled the Italian "AI" ahead of their fourth-round encounter and reiterated the point minutes after the match by commenting "AI" on the US Open's official Instagram post.
