The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations across India.
GCA Secretary, Anil Patel, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working on securing a suitable time frame for the tournament. Details such as the number of participating teams are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as crucial talent scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already provide platforms for local cricketers to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
